Graber bought 10 acres from the Chaffey Brothers, the founders of the town known then as the “Model Colony.” In 1892, he planted some olive trees and two years later, harvested the fruit that launched the company, now the oldest operating olive-curing business in the United States.īut olives aren’t oranges and they are not lemons. Graber Olive House, a cornerstone of Ontario history, has been named the eighth historical district of the 129-year-old city, a designation that points to the property’s agricultural heritage in a unique way.
